Nationwide Items September-October 2013

Double update!

So I take no claim that these are original or exiting...BUT. These are a couple of the things I currently am doing for Nationwide Insurance. They are pretty strict about branding and such, but I do what I must. :)

Top:
Postcard to pass out at career fairs.

Bottom: Signature Graphic and t-shirt design for the internal Enterprise Architecture group. I literally only had hours to make both. @__@

The Littlest Pet Shop Designs-Scottie and Owl

Finally I can add a few more Hasbro related designs to my gallery! So the Scottish terrier was a rough sketch passed along to me that I got to explore further and develop a new hairstyle for as well as create the final illustration and character turnaround. I really loved working on this one. :)

The owl was a complete redesign that I did from scratch, starting with character exploration (I did a ton) and then final character illustration/pose and turn around. Apparently they ended up going with the sketch pose in the end though. I did not come up with the color palette though...

I now officially own both of these toys thanks to the wonder that is ebay! :)

It's Not Easy Being Green

Finished this portrait this morning- more of a doodle gone color study than anything else I guess! I loved exploring the color palette and playing with the lighting (whether it was successful or not!). :)
Anyway, this is a concept for a character I've been working on for a while...An early study actually, but there was something about that doodle I just can't seem to get past.

Random Sketches and a WIP

Just a little bit of random (like me)! Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, and a monster walk into a bar...yeah no, I really just was doing warm up sketches! And the top image in my current WIP- first time using my new Yiyanova tablet and I'm enjoying it, but playing around with it and taking it slow.

New Business Cards!

UPDATE: Wanted to show off the alternative colors for the front that I created. This really was a fun portrait in which I focused on experimenting with color. It's really interesting to me to see how color really affects our perception of a character (or person, place, thing, etc).

Just a little re-branding taking place! Getting ready for my trip to Illuxcon so I wanted to have something in hand...JUST IN CASE..

Nationwide Work

Just to show I haven't been a complete lazy bum over the last few months! Tons of random projects. All work is property of Nationwide Insurance.

Winters in Lavelle- Dragon Prince

This is an experimentation piece that I had a lot of fun playing around with in Photoshop! Great exercise in layer adjustments and playing with brushes. :)

I've been reading the webcomic Winters in Lavelle for like...3-4 years now and in attempt to break myself back into doing the art I love, I decided to doodle my favorite character for the comic, Ashton. I highly recommend Kasey Van Hise's webcomic because the story is wonderful!

Hasbro: The Littlest Pet Shop Paper Goods

Found that the paper goods (cookie tray/cook book/invitation) I did for The Littlest Pet Shop: Push and Play Series made it out on the shelves! The final colors are a little different, but at the time I created these the color scheme was not planned out! Just wanted to share some process work that I did for this project. :)

Smaller Company Projects

So here are a few logo designs I did for some local companies. One was for SKEWETT Inc.,a mulitmedia and recording studio company, and was a sub-section logo for their fans called SKEWETT Nation. They really wanted a logo that had a "3d" visual look to it. On the left are a bunch of the illustrator sketches that I did which eventually led me to the final logo on the right.

The second logo was done for a realtor company called The Real Law Group. The customer was looking for a logo to give an adequate visual for her company since it was constantly confused with being an attorneys firm. You can see I did a variety of illustrator sketches to give her visual suggestions of different directions her logo could go, but in the end, she just wanted the simple logo in the bottom right.

Bioshock Infinite

So...geez I don't even want to talk about this piece...This was GOING to be for the IGN Bioshock Infinite contest...and I misread the due date (I worked a whole extra day on it past the actual due date) but then on top of that I still was no where near finshed...So mad because it was starting to look halfway decent too. Don't know if I'll ever finish it so it may just be a sketch for the rest of its existence.

Anyway, this is Booker and Elizabeth vector style. What looms over them? The world may never know.

Nationwide Insurance Deliverables

Woah. Updates 2 days in a row? Astounding. I just wanted to share some of the deliverables I have made since starting at Nationwide Insurance! I'm not going to go into detail about everything and I've made sure that there are no classified Nationwide details here to get me in trouble! :)

The "Tree of Knowledge" is a IT Competency Model to give associates a better understanding of classes they need to take to become better equipped in their roles.

The Teaching Thursdays board has a sample of the many different Marketing tactics I did for these peer driven classes I helped maintain. I helped shape the logo, learning materials, monitor advertisements, etc.

And the TechCon board is from Nationwide IT "TechCon 2013" which is a sort of learning convention. I was on the wonderful committee that set up the ran the convention at the Hyatt this past February. I help create information booklets, digital presentation templates, icons, banners, etc. I did not create the logo (I did add the vine though), but my idea for the logo can be seen in the upper left hand corner.

Hasbro Littlest Pet Shop

So I haven't posted anything I've done in the past year...at all...FAIL. Just wanted to post a little update with some of the toy concept work I've done for Hasbro! Both series hit toy shelves everywhere in Jan-Feb 2013. I've been fortunate enough to get a hold of some of these toys myself!
